Mild hybrid, optimising efficiency

Mild hybrid, optimising efficiency

Mild hybrids use a petrol engine to power the wheels with a lithium battery providing support. Stop-start technology increases efficiency by shutting the engine off when the car is at rest, or when lifting the foot off the pedal, reducing emissions and running costs.

Hybrid, a thrilling electrified experience

Hybrid, a thrilling electrified experience

Hybrid vehicles add an electric motor to your everyday petrol engine to bring you many of the benefits of electric, without the need to charge. The system automatically switches between electric, combustion, or a mixture of the two, according to how hard you press on the pedal.

e-POWER, a powerful combination

e-POWER, a powerful combination

e-POWER is the combination of a petrol engine, which charges the battery and an electric motor, which turns the wheels. It performs similarly to an electric car, reducing emissions and running costs, but because you don't have to plug it in, there's no change to your driving habits. It also uses regenerative energy to help keep the battery charged.

100% Electric, driving the future

 100% Electric, driving the future

Driven by an electric motor and battery pack, you'll never need to visit the petrol station again. Electric power is clean, silent, efficient and cheaper, but you do need to charge, which may mean planning long journeys and installing a charging point at home.

Sustainable production

Sustainable production

Production is our largest emissions source, but we're working hard to reduce it. The solar roof at the Nissan Motor Parts Centre in Amsterdam produces 70% of the centre’s annual energy needs, with excess energy delivered back into the national grid.

Driving towards zero emission

Driving towards zero emissions

With over 500,000 Nissan LEAFs sold worldwide, and new models to suit all lifestyles, zero-emission vehicles will continue to play a big role in Nissan's future. Today we're forging partnerships with national and local governments, other companies and other industries to help secure the necessary infrastructure for a zero-emission future.

Renewable energy

Renewable energy

One of our main priorities is to make the electric car lifecycle sustainable from before to after the life of the vehicle. Refurbished Nissan batteries are reused for energy storage in buildings, like solar powered homes and the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam. The largest of its kind in Europe, it stores enough electricity to power the entire neighbourhood around the stadium.

Figures quoted are for a 40kWh (Nissan LEAF) and 62kWh (Nissan LEAF e+) batteries. Time dependent on charging conditions, including charger type and condition, battery temperature as well as ambient temperature at point of use. Indicated rapid charging time requires use of a CHAdeMO rapid charger. The Nissan LEAF is designed to support the majority of journeys in daily life and is equipped with charging safeguards to protect the battery during repeated rapid charging sessions in a short period of time. The time taken for successive rapid charging can take longer if the battery temperature activates the battery safeguarding technology.

E-Power will be available Spring 2022.
